History
In 1946, Vernon Botsford started a farm management business to assist landowners in managing and caring for their land. That same determination and commitment that helped him spearhead this new venture remain at the cornerstone of Red River Land Company today. In 1954, Botsford & Rice was formed and in 1977, Vernon’s son, John, joined the business. The company added the agricultural co-op stock brokerage business in 1994 as John pioneered the development of the first trading platform for agricultural co-op stock sales. This revolutionized the way beet stock is transferred and sold to this day. Botsford & Rice Inc. was acquired by Alerus Financial in 1998. In 2009, John started Red River Land Company which focused on farm real estate sales, farm management services, and sugar beet stock sales.
Chris Griffin began working with John in 2011 and took over as President of Red River Land Company in 2018. John, with his many years of knowledge and expertise, continues to work with the company as Vice President. Nick joined the company in 2020.
